Hi!
I wrote this book because after over 2 decades of teaching, coaching, supporting, and actively learning myself, I realized I’ve actually successfully cracked a problem that so many people struggle with, it would be ridiculous to keep it to myself. I know, I know… you’ve heard it all before, yadda, yadda, yadda. But this is different. It’s different because I’ve lived it. I was a below-average student. I barely got through high school. But I ended up graduating with a degree in Physics from University of California Santa Cruz. More than that, I did it on my own, figuring out why I was struggling, how to overcome the things I had never been formally taught about setting myself up for success, and I’ve been helping students and their families and caregivers overcome the very things that were in my way.
So NO! This is not your standard diatribe about how to talk to educators, or research in cognitive science, or even learning THEORY. Not that those things don’t inform my own knowledge and what I have to offer you, but the real value I can bring to your learner, and, frankly, to the problems homework and school work are creating in your family dynamic, is real-world experience that really works. More than that, it works long after school is over. I used the exact same ideas I share in this book to write this book, pivot my own career, and begin MY second adulthood. So that’s my story and you can benefit from it. BUY THIS BOOK! And finally take a well-deserved break from being a homework nag and going back to being the family you really want to be.
